This workshop functions on the basis of
two principles: vocational training and training on basic issues
of basic personnal skills.
To
achieve this we have set up two facilities:
The
first facility resembles an average domestic setting where trainees,
on a one-to-one basis, are taught how to cook, do the dishes,
lay the table etc.
The
second facility is a professional, fully equipped kitchen-dining
hall, featuring automatic dish-washer, refrigerator, deep freezer,
oven, etc.
Trainees
learn all aspects of catering in hotels, restaurants etc. In
the afternoon they prepare lunch for themselves and the rest
of the centre!
The
Cooking and Confectionery team have won distinctions
in cooking competitions. They also take part in the Zoodohos
Pigi annual Christmas and Easter bazaars and other random exhibitions
where, with the help of their trainers, they promote and sell
their tasty products.
